Didn’t Botterill literally say he’s not interested in rentals? Do you at all actually follow the Sabres?

On Monday night, the Toronto Maple Leafs traded to the Los Angeles Kings a 2019 first rounder and two prospect forwards in exchange for veteran left shot defenseman Jake Muzzin.

Jammerz... If it's the Pens Brassard is who he's targeting.

#1, Blueger is the only bottom 6 center the Pens have signed next year. Cullen, Sheahan, Brassard are all gone most likely.

#2 Blueger isn't a top 6 style forward. Probably a very good 4th, possibly a 3rd liner, not a second liner though.

#3 Brassard being scratched shows that "most likely" a trade is in the works. He was playing great on Monday.

However, I have no idea what the pens would be asking for from Buffalo. They really don't have any holes in the lineup and botteril shouldn't give up futures for a player that there seems to be a bidding war on....unless it's a sign and trade.

If you were to ask Garth, there is no doubt they would accept Girgensens and Beaulieu in return. Can't get enough marginal NHLers!

You do realize that when scouts show up at a game there usually are 2 teams playing. Not every scout is showing up to scout Buffalo only.

I don’t see the Sabres being interested in the 31 year old. I believe they will make more of a move in the Cotourier or RNH style but that would be more of an offseason move. I definitely think we will be sending an offer sheet Marner’s way if his contract situation goes that far.

Why would the Pens trade Bleuger when he will be needed to replace Brassard?

Why would you take any proposed Garth trade seriously?

Botterill doesn't seem like the type of GM that would offer sheet another player. I would love to see that type of aggressiveness league wide, but will we? I doubt it

Interesting, though, that Marner's camp is waiting til the season ends before negotiating a new contract. Could be trying to leverage more money by seeing what Matthews gets and then comparing stats

GM's would be dumb to start offer sheeting players. It only benefits the players, and will hurt all the teams by driving up the salaries.

I agree that Brassard doesn't make sense for Buffalo unless they think that they can resign him, or the price goes down. Personally, I don't see a better 3C out there for the pens to even make a move for this year unless it's a guy with some term. And, Blueger doesn't make sense at all as the Pens need him and Buffalo would only end up using him as a 4c.

I think the sabers are closer than some think. Not this year, but they have a very good young 2C, a very good 1st line, some nice young players on D, and guys that are good depth players once the 2nd line fills out. Skinner reupping and Marner would give Botteril A LOT of sway in the free agent market. Give them another year to grow and they're most likely a playoff team at least

Your take on Marner is a pipe dream, he'd never leave the Leafs to go to the Sabres.

I do like the Sabres direction though

Careful what you wish for as the lineup will start for Dahlin in a little over 2 seasons.

what is the NHL record for being sellers at the trade deadline. The Sabre's have to have it or are close to breaking it.
